MARCH MADNESS MATCH WON BY JAYDEN GRIDER
COOKEVILLE, TN – Jayden Grider from Baxter was the winner of the March Madness BB Gun Match held recently at the Bend of the River. This match has some suprises and some heart breaks. The match is the normal four-position match with a twist. Only one shot in each of the prone, standing, sitting and kneeling positions with a ten-point test for a total of 53.6 possible for each shooter. Each scoring ring is broken into 10 parts for a maximum of 10.9 per shot when the next ring is almost touched. It sounds simple but fun to watch.
Jayden had a score of 51.3. Second place went to Lilly McCloud from Monterey with a 47.1. Third place was taken by Hannah Fortunato from Cookeville with 46.8
The positions were close. First in the prone position was Josie Grider from Baxter with the score of 10.5. Second was a tie with at 10.4. Just a 0.1 difference. David Brown,Jr. from Wilder had a 9.4 in standing to win the tie over Victor Borgh from Monterey with the 10.4 and a 4.7 in standing .
Standing first and second were tied at 10.0. The tie breaker was the kneeling score of 10.9 for Dylan Anderson from Monterey and a 10.8 for Zander Slather from Hilham. Third went to Brodi Dogan with 9.8
Sitting was just as close. Cody McCloud from Monterey and Lola Curd from Rickman had 9.8 with the tie breaker going to Cody McCloud. Third went to Farley Wyatt with 9.7.
Kneeling was the last shooting position and had Gauge Walker from Crawford in first with a 10.6. Following close behind was Caleb Rohyans from Hilham 9.8.
The test was 10 questions with 1 point each. There were 12 with the score of 10 and then a bunch of good scores. The 10s were made by Jayden Grider, Dylan Anderson, Emma Noble, Lilly McCloud, Lilly Cope from Monterey, Cody McCloud, Jaylyn Grider , Cale Rohyans. Elliot Kristoff from Monterey, Arrow Looper from Monterey, Callum Tedford from Cookeville and Natalie Phillips from Monterey.
The team scores were just as exciting. The first place team were the Old ’Possums from the Bend pf the River with 232.7. The. Members are Jayden Grider 51.3, Hannah Fortunato 46.8, Caleb Rohyans 44.7, Josie Grider 44.6 and Zander Sather 44.3. The second team was the Wilson Elementary School team consisting of Lily McCloud 47.1, Cody McCloud 46.1, David Brown Jr. 44.3Natalie Phillips 43.7 and Arrow Looper 41.3
Shooters that were on a national team last year were not eligible to participate on a team this year but had their own match. The Champion of Champions Match. Was led by Emma Noble from Baxter with a 49.0. The team was Emma Noble 49.0, Gunny Helton from Hilham with a 47.9, Elijah Noble from Baxter at 46.7 and Jaylyn Grider at 46.3.

The next match at the Bend of the River is the Pre-State Match on April the 6th and the State BB-Gun Match to be held April 20th at the Livingston Academy.
