ZANE MOSELEY WINS PRE - FATHERS DAY PISTOL MATCH

 

COOKEVILLE, TN – Zane Moseley started his 2025 shooting season with a win at the Pre-Fathers Day Pistol Match held recently at the Bend of the River.  This was an NRA precision pistol match.  The match is 270 shots consisting of 90 shots with a .22 LR pistol, 90 shots with a centerfire pistol (.32 to ,45 caliber pistols). And  90 shots with a .45 ACP caliber pistol.  There are 30 shots slow fire, 10 shots in ten minutes, 30 shots timed fire, two 5-shot strings in 20 seconds and 30 shots rapid fire, two 5-sot strings in 10 seconds.  All the shooting is unsupported using one. Hand. It is a lot of shooting in a short time but it can really be fun. 

Moseley had a score of 2511-72X (93%) out of a possible 2700-270X.  Moseley said that he has shot a score over 2600 but he was a little rusty from not having a match since last fall.  David Hargis from Rickman was second at 2431-41X.  Third went to Mike Thompson from Cookeville with 2092-18X.   Jayden Grider from Baxter was high junior shooter1291-4x.

There was a weather forecast of heavy rain but it only rained for about 15 minutes midway through the match.  Moseley was the only one to shoot a score of 100.  There were many good scores in the high 90s.   Jacob Schmidt from Sparta was shooting for the first time and had a respectable 1712-18X.

The next match at the Bend of the River is a smallbore three-position match July 7^th, 2024 with the next pistol match July 14th  These matches are open to the public.  There is no charge to watch.  For more information contact Charlie Pardue at  (931) 498-2829 or  bendoftheriverpsc@twlakes.net  .
