ZANE MOSELEY PISTOL MATCH WINNER
COOKEVILLE,
TN – Zane Moseley from Cookeville was the winner of the September Pistol Match
held recently at the Bend of the River.
This is the NRA Precision Pistol Discipline. In this event there are 9 targets with 100
points per target. Three targets are
shot in slow fire, three targets in timed fire and three targets in rapid
fire. In slow fore you have 10 minutes
for ten shots. The timed fire is a
little faster with 5 shots in 20 second.
This is sustained fire but it is not rat.a tat tat. You have almost 3 seconds per shot. The rapid
fire is fast, but you still have plenty of time to get off 5 shots in
ten seconds. This is fired three times , once with a .22 LR caliber handgun,
once with a centerfire between .32 and .45 caliber and then 9 targets with a .45 ACP caliber handgun. All stages are fired at 25 yards. It is a long but enjoyable day of
shooting. Moseley had the final score of 2521-79X. It was one of his better scores for the
summer. David Hargis from Rickman was
second with 2403-29X.
It
was the best day for a pistol match this
year. The weather finally broke, and the
temperature was in the low seventies. The
rain quit before the match began and the sun came out. The lead went back and forth making it a fun
match to watch. Hargis has an NRA distinguished pistol rank, but Moseley’s
youth gave him the winning edge.
The
next Pistol match will be in May of 2024, Contact Charlie Pardue at (931) 498 –

not too late to begin practice for next season.
