JOSIAH FORTUNATO WINS PRE-STATE BB GUN MATCH

COOKEVILLE, TN – Josiah Fortunato from Cookeville was the  winner of the Pre-State BB gum match held recently at the Bend of the River.   Josiah had the score of 473.8 just 1.1 points ahead of second place Jaxson Thompson from Cookeville that had  a 472.7.   Third place went to Piper Winter from Greenback with a 466.2.

The match was a four position (prone , standing, sitting and kneeling) and a 100-point test for a total of 536 points per person.

The first position was prone. First place went to Maggie McCloud from Monterey with 93.3.  Second went to Khloe Phann from Baxter with 98.7.   Ellison Phy from Baxter had a 98.5.  The scoring rings on the target count from 1 to  10 and each ring is divided into ten parts. You can get a maximum of 10.9 on each shot.  The is a shot centered on a bullseye. One shot per bull and ten bullseyes on a target gives a 109 for each position.  As you can see there was only one point between first and third.

Standing scores are usually a little lower than the other positions.. This held true for this match.  It only took 92.5 for first.  This score was shot by Hannah  Fortunato from Cookeville.  Annelyse Hall from Friendsville took second with an 87.8 .  Maggie McCloud was third with 86.2.

Hoyt Hughes from Duck River was first in sitting with a 96.4.  Hannah Fortunato was second at 95.6.  And Ethan Ganzevoort from Maryville  had a 94.7 for third.

Kneeling is the last shooting position.  Ellison Phy from Baxter had a 97.4 in first place.  Baker Rietveld from Williamsport was second 93.5.  Riley Phillips was .2 points behind at 93.3 for third.

Gunny Helton from Hilham had the only 100 on the test.

The Awesome ‘Possums from Bend of the River were first team with 1873.4 points.  This was Josiah Fortunato, Jaxson Thompson, Ellison Phy and Lily Cope.  The Bullseye Bandits from Blount County were second at 1783.6 with Piper Winter, Annelyse Hall, Ethan Ganzevoort and Aceleiigh Pabst,  The third club was the Tenn Tens from Centerville with 1709.6. The Mountain G.O.A.T.S. from Monterey were fourth at 1695.1 points by Maggie McCloud, Riley Phillips, Woodrow Phillips and Holland Hassler

The shooters that were on a team at the National Match last year cannot participate two consecutive years in a row. These shooters have a separate match.  This match is called Champion of Champions.  This year the title went to Gunny Helton with 485.3.  The other Champions were Lily McCloud at 478.4.  Pipper Wilson from Livingston with 476.3 and Brodi Dogan from Livingston at 467.8.
