NICK VanEGMOND WINS FIRST SMALLBORE MATCH OF 2025

 

COOKEVILLE, TN – Nick VanEgmond from Clarksville was the winner of the May smallbore match at the Bend of the River.  The weather was cool but the shooting was hot.  VanEgmond had a 1135-31X.  Close in second place was Jeff Norrod from Monterey with a 1092-18-X.  Gunny Helton , a junior shooter from Hilham was Next-to Last with a 958-9X.  Callie Helton form Hilham was High Lady with a 1092-18X.  Brodie Dogan from Livingston was High New Shooter with a 673-1X

This was a three-position match with smallbore (caliber .22 LR) rifles at 50 yards.  The Bullseye is 5 inches across but the X-ring is smaller than a dime.  The X-count is shots near the center of the Bullseye.  They count 10 points the same as the larger 10-ring and are used for bragging rights and breaking ties. 

The shooting positions are prone, standing and kneeling. This match had 40 shots in each position. VanEgmond was the only one that had a 100 on Target.  This happened twice during the pone which he won with a 398-23X.  Callie Helton was second with 379-11X.  Jeff Norrod  was third with  a 378-4X.  There was almost one of those ties. 

The standing position held true to form with slightly lower scores and VanEgmond in first with 358-3.  Jeff Norrod had a higher x-count but had fewer points at 345-7.  Callie Helton was third with  311-1X. 

Kneeling is last. VanEgmond was winner again with a 383-5X. Jeff Norrod was second at 369.  And Callie Helton was  third with 356-4X.

The weather was windy and 55 degrees with an occasional light shower.  Good time for shooting.. You did not have sweat running down your back and in your eyes. Much fun was had by all.
